Closing the Achievement Gap: Strategic Practices in Early Education to Achieve 3rd grade Academic Success
Our very own DIAL EE Fellows, Eileen Chen, Roberta Gonzalez, and Wendy Hernandez, recently presented at the Association of California Superintendents and Administrators’ (ACSA) Leadership Summit. Their presentation Closing the Achievement Gap: Strategic Practices in Early Education to Achieve 3rd grade Academic Success explored how administrators who have had little exposure to Early Education can begin to see it as a strategy for adding value to their programs, how they can learn more about it, and how they can start to integrate Early Education with K-12. They discussed the importance of developmentally appropriate practices (DAP) for early learners ages 2-6 years old and what DAP looks like during instruction. They provided an example of the impacts a fully aligned and integrated early education program can have in an elementary school.
